Today, I am excited to review this wonderful Buffalo Trace pick from T&T Liquor in Zachary, LA.
T&T Liquor is a small, rare find. The store has a great spirits selection, along with a bar that has been serving customers for 52 years. The previous proprietors decided to take a well earned retirement, turning the store over to new owner, Gary Glover. The pick was a collaboration of several local connoisseurs of spirits, Clint Nauta, Blaine Kendrick, Rusty Gomez, Beau Schlatre, and Jess Vallet. I absolutely recommend stopping in to visit this small and packed full of spirits hidden gem.
On to my review:
Bottle info:
Buffalo Trace
Picked by T&T Liquor
Buffalo Trace Distillery
Frankfort, KY
Proof: 90
Age Statement: Between 4-8 years
Price: $31.87 after tax
Color: Tawny
Beading: None
Nose:
Medium aromas of oak and vanilla, with a hint of sweetness.
Palate:
Medium but smooth balance of oak, baking spices and brown sugar. The balance in the flavors makes this one stand out amongst several other Buffalo Trace picks I have tried.
Finish:
Medium finish filled with dark fruits mixed with oak char, which gives a candy like sweetness without being overly sweet.
Rating 4.5 out of 5
This is one of my favorite Buffalo Trace picks. This selection exemplifies what you would seek in a Buffalo Trace pick, a stronger flavor profile with more pronounced notes of dark fruit and candy to compliment and balance the usual oak and vanilla profile. Unfortunately, this pick sold out. However, you may get a second chance to purchase as they are releasing a 1.75 Liter of the same pick soon. I highly recommend this pour and look forward to the next pick from T&T Liquor.
