Last week, I did a tasting of a new bottle from Buffalo Trace that has some hype coming from it due to it being a collaboration from Buffalo Trace Distillery Master Distiller, Harlen Wheatley, and Grammy Award Winning Country Singer, Chris Stapleton.
The whiskey is a blended whiskey as in the name Blend No. 40. The blend is of a Canadian Blend with Old Barton. I had some minor expectations for this bottle but did not really know how good or bad this pour would be. I always try to keep an open mind with bottles and had the same mentality going into this one.
One of the key statements that have been released from Buffalo Trace on this bottle is that it was blended after several hours of testing and tasting.

This pour was severely underwhelming along with not very tasty. You get a big punch of Canadian whiskey flavor but almost like Canadian Club or even cheaper. The entire pour of this bottle is underwhelming for the hype, flavorless in a positive way, and in my opinion, not very good. I was very disappointed in the bottle due to the hype behind it along with who selected it. There is a market for this bottle and I am sure that my opinion is one that can be positive in many other reviews but I feel that for right under $40, this is not a bottle to recommend or purchase.
